Beijing Daxing International Airport experienced a surge in passenger traffic during the recent Labor Day holiday, achieving record numbers since its operation began. According to data released by the airport, from May 1st to 5th, a total of 4,824 flights operated, averaging approximately 965 flights per day. This resulted in a passenger throughput of 7.639 million passengers, with an average of 1.528 million passengers per day.

These figures represent an 8.9% increase in flight volume and a 15.9% increase in passenger volume compared to the same period in 2024. This marks the highest recorded passenger numbers for Daxing International Airport during a Labor Day holiday since its opening.

The airport, which opened in September 2019, has been a key component of Beijing's expanded air transportation network, aiming to alleviate congestion at the city’s primary airport, Beijing Capital International Airport. The increased passenger flow during the holiday period demonstrates the airport's growing popularity and efficiency in serving travelers.

The surge in travel during the Labor Day holiday is consistent with broader trends in China, as many citizens take advantage of the break to visit domestic destinations. Authorities have implemented measures to ensure smooth travel experiences, including increased staffing and streamlined security procedures at airports nationwide.
